Why KaratFluent exists
Buying an engagement ring is one of the most expensive purchases you'll ever make — and one of the only ones where you're expected to walk in with zero knowledge and just trust whoever's behind the counter.
The industry is designed that way. Prices are opaque. Terminology is designed to confuse. Retailers mark up stones 100–200% and call it fair pricing. And the "three months salary" rule was literally invented by a diamond cartel's ad agency in the 1930s.
KaratFluent exists to fix that. We put the knowledge that used to live behind jeweler counters into the hands of the people actually spending the money.
We're not a jeweler. We don't sell diamonds. We're a buyer's advocate — here to tell you what a stone should cost, what questions to ask, and which retailers are actually worth your time. We disclose every affiliate relationship. We sell nothing. Every recommendation is the same advice we'd give a friend.
One of the biggest purchases of your life shouldn't require a leap of faith. It should require knowledge.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using KaratFluent ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Site following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Nature of the Service
KaratFluent provides educational content, interactive tools, and retailer recommendations related to engagement rings and fine jewelry. The Site is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional appraisal, financial, or legal advice. We are not licensed jewelers, gemologists, or financial advisors. All purchasing decisions are made at your own discretion and risk.

KaratFluent participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click links to third-party retailers and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial recommendations, rankings, or tool outputs. All affiliate relationships are disclosed where applicable. We may also display sponsored content, which will always be clearly labeled.
4. Accuracy of Information
We strive to provide accurate, up-to-date information. However, diamond prices, retailer policies, product availability, and industry data change frequently. Price estimates provided by our tools are approximate and based on publicly available market data. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or currentness of any information on the Site. Always verify pricing and policies directly with retailers before purchasing.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — including text, graphics, tools, code, design, and branding — is the property of KaratFluent and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without prior written permission. Personal, non-commercial use of the spec sheet export feature is permitted.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, interfere with the Site's operation, or scrape, copy, or redistribute Site content for commercial purposes without permission.
7. Third-Party Links
The Site contains links to third-party websites and retailers. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of any third-party sites. Clicking an external link means you are subject to that site's terms and policies. We encourage you to review the terms of any retailer before making a purchase.
8. Limitation of Liability
KaratFluent is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, reliance on any information provided, or any transactions with third-party retailers linked from the Site.

1. Information We Collect
KaratFluent does not currently require user accounts or collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or payment details. Selections made in the spec sheet builder and price estimator are stored locally in your browser's memory and are not transmitted to any server. This data is lost when you close or refresh the page. In the future, we may offer optional features (email newsletters, saved spec sheets, user accounts) that collect personal information. We will update this policy accordingly before collecting any such data.
2. Analytics & Cookies
We may use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your browsing behavior, including pages visited, time on site, referring URL, and device information. This data is aggregated and anonymized. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
3. Affiliate Link Tracking
When you click an affiliate link to a third-party retailer, that retailer may use cookies or tracking parameters to attribute the referral to KaratFluent. This tracking is governed by the retailer's own privacy policy. We do not have access to your purchase details, payment information, or personal data held by retailers.

If we introduce email features in the future (newsletters, spec sheet delivery, educational sequences), we will only send emails to addresses you voluntarily provide, include an unsubscribe option in every email, never sell or share your email address with third parties, and use a reputable email service provider with appropriate security measures.

The Site is served over HTTPS. We do not store personal data on our servers. As we add features that involve data collection, we will implement appropriate security measures to protect that information.
6. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
